Morning of teenagers are always the same, crying and feeling like hugging the bed all the time but one point came when the mornings are the same but the life is not. School Life vs College Life is an unfair comparison but we all do it at some point in our lives.
School life vs College life
Bags in school life were like a bucket of vegetables, containing every subject’s book. Early in morning packing the bags while looking at the timetable was more important than knowing who is the president of the nation. But going to college life, the mind is thinking all about what should I wear and looking at the bag is like looking at the place which contains deodorant and not the books. All agree, who knows what is a bag in college.
The school never taught anyone the importance of attendance. For school going student attendance is either ‘yes ma’am’ or ‘no ma’am’ but for the student going to college, it’s a matter of one year backlog. To be honest, nobody cares about attendance in school it was always about getting notes and getting stars on notebooks. On the other hand, attendance is more important than breakfast. And notes? Does that mean those words written on the notebooks which we heard by chance in between the lecture just to show the teacher how attentive we are? Well most of us don’t even do that.
The school really thought us so many things which we use in our college life that obviously college doesn’t teach. For example how to deal with the people or things that we really don’t need in our life but still have to bear for sake of education. Like trigonometry, “I use so much trigonometry in my life, its so helpful” – a quote by no one ever because no one uses it. The school really teaches us things that just have a great value in exams but zero value in most of our lives. Similarly, in university or colleges, we deal so many people which are just useless but still we have to deal with their annoying nature for the sake of education.
Comparison of college and school is really wired as on one side when the school teaches us, to be honest, the college makes us lie. From “mom I ‘am hungry give me something to eat” to “mom I really am full seriously I ate a lot” while holding the stomach and cursing the food of college mess we all know how to hide the lies on the cell phone from our beloved once sitting miles away. And also not only to that extent the real talent of lying comes out when the teacher caught while bunking the class where the school children will ask “what is bunk is it yummy”?
Approximately five pencils, one eraser, one sharpener, one scale and also sometimes even a stapler, the pencil box of school going student looks like a piece of art designed by Alexandra McQueen where the pencil box in college stands for the piece of cloth having pen drives, memory cards, old movie tickets, some change money and ATM receipts. And mentioning ATM receipt doesn’t mean receipt after withdrawal of money it means receipts after checking how much dad has transferred to our accounts for ‘so-called’ books that everyone knows is going to the pub.
Not even a single dot on the white shirt of the uniform of school was tolerated during school days. Wearing new shirts were like wearing a piece of the moon, it should shine brighter than our future that was all the motive and childhood inspiration to go to school in the early morning. But we never knew that a jean and three old shirts are going to be the life saviour in college life. New clothes for college students are just like the blue moon which appears once in a while and the funniest part is walking inside the campus wearing the recently bought shirt which is like 6 months old, feels like attending a red carpet.
But something can never be changed. Sharing food or better be saying destroying canteen table with friends is just a new feeling every time. Name of fame, the name with which a teacher is known as a secret code is every student’s part-time job no matter if he/she is in school or college. And making an excuse of the bathroom and end up coming from a trip to campus.
Life changes but the morning doesn’t, no matter what comes and go the student life will always be the best and memorable
