Getting through the prelims and the mains exam of the Union Public Service Commision exam of in other words Civils exam and sitting for the interview round is a dream come true for many aspirants nevertheless this itself is a hurdle to cross cause each and every question has an underlying meaning which gives the insights about the candidate's personality it is based on these questions asked in IAS interviews the most knowledgeable candidates are chosen to be the future administrators of this nation.

The interview round judges the candidates based on factors like:

  • Quickness in answering the questions asked.
  • The reaction of the Interviewee in certain situations.
  • The Attitude of the candidate.

Well, these are some of the most noteworthy key aspects tested by questions asked in  IAS interviews which throw light on the personality, spontaneity and the mindset of the aspirant and the best of the best are selected and qualified.

Listed below are a few interesting Questions Asked in IAS Interviews and these questions will boggle your mind and the answers to these questions will leave you awestruck as they are the simplest answers you could think of!

Question 1

This is an unusual paragraph. I'm curious as to just how quickly you can find out what is so unusual about it but it looks so ordinary and plain that you would think nothing was wrong with it. In fact, nothing is wrong with it! It is highly unusual though. Study it and think about it, but you still may not find anything odd. But if you work at it a bit, you might find out.

Answer:  The letter 'e', which is the most common letter used in the English language, does not appear even once in the paragraph.

The above question was asked in  IAS interview can be answered by keenly observing and applying a bit of language sense. However, most of the candidates could not get the answer.

Question 2

On one stormy night, It was a heavy pour down you are driving in your car and you pass by a bus stop and you see three people. An old friend who helped you in the past. An old lady who looks very unwell. The perfect partner you have been dreaming about all your.Who would you offer a ride, you are allowed to pick a single passenger in your car?You could either help the old lady, because of humanity you should save her, or you could save your old friend as a perfect way to pay him back. However, you might not come across your partner again.

Answer: I would give the keys to my friend and ask him to take the lady to the hospital. I would stay back with my dream partner and wait for a bus at the bus stop.

This answer is a perfect example of "thinking out of the box" yet keeping the answer simple with a positive outlook on life.

Question 3

An Interviewer ordered a cup of coffee for the candidate. On placing the coffee before the candidate asked him "What is before you?"

Answer  Candidate then and there replied "Tea"

Well, most of us are wondering why the candidate said "tea" instead of coffee.Here what we missed was the interviewer meant the alphabet "U" and not you so alphabetically "T" comes before "U" 

Question 4

In one of the interviews, a girl candidate was asked what her reaction would be if she woke up one fine morning and found out that she was pregnant.

Answer: The girl instantly replied saying that she would be overjoyed and would tell her husband first.

Usually, an unmarried girl would be stunned to hear this, but she answered it in a cool and a composed manner and with a positive mindset. When asked this question she said: "why should I take it in the wrong way?"

Question 5

A cat had three kittens: January, March, and May. What was the mother’s name

Answer: "What" was the name of the cat.

Question 6

If 2 is a company and 3 is the crowd, then what will be 4 and 5?

Answer: 9

the phrase "4 and 5" means the addition of 4 and 5 which is nine.It is as simple as that.

Question 7

 A killer sentenced to death was shown three rooms and had to choose a room. The first room is on fire. The second room has a killer with guns. In the third room was a Tiger, who had not eaten for three years. Which room should he choose?

Answer: Room 3

Room three has a tiger that had not eaten for years so obviously, The tiger would have been dead by now.

Question 8

Jamie in the 45th on looking at his reflection made an impulsive decision of jumping. On jumping, he did not encounter a single bruise let alone serious fracture or death. How was this possible? PS: He did not use a parachute or land on a soft surface

Answer: Jamie is a window cleaner who was tired after cleaning the windows on the 45th floor and thus leaped inside the building.

This candidate proved his wits and spontaneity with this question. We are still wondering how Jaime would have landed without a bruise.

Question 9

In which State is the Bay of Bengal?

Answer: Liquid state

Do not get into the Geographical details of the earth as this question involves some elementary chemistry that most of us don't bother to think about for this question.

Question 10

By using only one straight line, can you make the equation correct? 5+5+5=550?

Answer: Draw a slanting line for the first plus line and make it 4. Hence 545+5=550.

This question uses some common sense and doesn't have any math in it to slove.
